Virtuous Woman?

The Living Bible says it this way, If you can find a truly good wife . . . in the king James it says, Who can find a virtuous woman?

The idea here is for a man to seek out a good woman, find a woman who is a woman of quality characterists. These, as most of you know, are words of a mother to a son, some say it was Bathsheba to Solomon and then it was given a fictional name by the writer. But whatever the case the man is given a directive to seek out this type of girl for himself. Wise words from a mom, would you instruct your son(s) in the same way?

My husband proposed to me when I was all of 19, I am quite certain I did not possess the charateristics of a virtuous woman. It is said that a man typically will seek after a woman like his mother, it is usually unintentional, it seems to just happen that way. I like to think, if that is the case, he seeks after the things he loved about his mom, maybe the way she spoke to him, the way she loved or protected him. And . . . love is blind!

Our society is certainly different than biblical days but one thing is true, when a man makes a decision to ask a woman to marry him he really believes that the girl he has chosen is the best, the prize of all prizes. The most amazing creature and right for him. He believes he has found "the one above all others" So today when you say those words "Who can find a virtuous wife?" Lovingly say your husbands name, picture his face when he proposed, be in that moment, feel being treasured again and again. He really believed it was you who were "the one", enjoy the truth of that moment. Relish the idea that you have a lifetime to live being "virtuous" out, not in perfection, but with God's hand in your life, giving you the power to be a virtuous woman in the daily events that come along. Go find your wedding album, take a look at those people in the pictures, see yourself as God's virtuous one and your husbands choice.

Proverbs 31:10(a) Who can find a virtuous woman?

Project for today: Discuss with your hubby what it was that made him "pop the question"  Rejoice in your husband's choice. Thank him for trusting you the be the one for him. Pray the words of the verse and seek more insights from your heavenly Father on it.
